The 2017 Youth theme for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is James 1:5-6<\/a>, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.\u00a0But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.”<\/span><\/p>\n

We can ASK our questions of the Lord for He is “full of grace, equity, and truth, full of patience, mercy, and long-suffering, quick to hear the cries of his people and to answer their prayers” (Alma 9:26<\/a>).\u00a0As often as we inquire of the Lord, we will receive instruction from Him through the Spirit (see D&C 6:14<\/a>).\u00a0<\/span>Elder M. Russell Ballard said, “I\u2019m just so grateful to know that the answers are always there, and if we seek them\u2014really seek with real intent and with full purpose of a prayerful heart\u2014we will eventually find the answers to our questions as we continue on the gospel path”\u00a0(“To Whom Shall We Go?<\/a>,” #ldsconf, Oct-2016).<\/p>\n

Elder N. Eldon Tanner confirmed,\u00a0<\/span>\u201cThe answers to all life\u2019s problems are to be found in the gospel of Jesus Christ” (\u201cCelestial Marriages and Eternal Families<\/a>,\u201d Apr-1980). The scriptures contain the gospel of Jesus Christ, so the scriptures contain the answers to all life’s problems and questions. Therefore, “shalt thou inquire, and make search, and ask diligently” (Deut. 13:14<\/a>).\u00a0“President Russell\u00a0M. Nelson has said, The Lord can only teach an inquiring mind'” (in Rosemary M. Wixom, “Returning to Faith<\/a>,” Apr-2015).<\/p>\n

Sister Wixom shared: “Mother Theresa recounted a time when her mind was filled with doubt and darkness. She said, ‘My testimony had become like a pile of ashes. It had all burned down. All that remained was Jesus Christ.’ She continued, ‘But He does not leave you when you have questions.<\/i> When anyone tries to keep the commandments, the door is wide open. Prayer and scripture study became incredibly important.<\/span>\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

“Archbishop P\u00e9rier responded to her concerns: ‘God guides you, dear Mother; you are not so much in the dark as you think. The path to be followed may not always be clear at once. Pray for light; do not decide too quickly, listen to what others have to say, consider their reasons. You will always find something to help you. \u2026 Guided by faith, by prayer, and by reason with a right intention, you have enough<\/a>.’\u201d (Ibid<\/a>, emphasis added)<\/span><\/div>\n

President Dieter\u00a0F. Uchtdorf concurred: \u201cWe are all pilgrims seeking God\u2019s light as we journey on the path of discipleship. We do not condemn others for the amount of light they may or may not have; rather, we nourish and encourage all light until it grows clear, bright, and true.\u201d (Ibid<\/a>.)<\/span><\/p>\n

I invite you to join me in a search for greater light. Let us nourish and encourage all light as we search for the answers to life’s questions in the scriptures and then ask of God in faith so we may each know the truth, love the truth, live the truth, and share the truth more fully.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I have compiled the first 32 questions in A Study Journal inspired by <\/span>The Book of Mormon 21 Day Challenge<\/a>. It includes some of my thoughts along with additional scriptures and teachings from the\u00a0King James Bible<\/a>, Book of Mormon<\/a>,\u00a0Doctrine and Covenants<\/a>, and\u00a0living prophets and apostles<\/a> of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that have enlightened my understanding regarding these questions.
