Scrooge isn\u2019t the only one who can\u00a0<a style=\"color: #1982d1;\" title=\"Vision Climb\" href=\"https:\/\/mountaintopmentoring.com\/?page_id=55\" target=\"_blank\">make a change for the better<\/a>. I can and you can. Elder Richard G. Scott promised, \u201cThe best way to make a permanent change for good is to make Jesus Christ your model and His teachings your guide for life\u201d (<a style=\"color: #1982d1;\" title=\"A Personal Study Plan\" href=\"https:\/\/mountaintopmentoring.com\/?page_id=238\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cHe Lives! All Glory to His Name!\u201d<\/a>). And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The Spirit of the Lord\u00a0is\u00a0upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>And he closed the book, and he gave\u00a0it\u00a0again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph\u2019s son?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country. And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land; But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta,\u00a0a city\u00a0of Sidon, unto a woman\u00a0that was\u00a0a widow.\u00a0And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.\u00a0But he passing through the midst of them went his way (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lds.org\/scriptures\/nt\/luke\/4.16-30?lang=eng#15\" target=\"_blank\">Luke 4:16-30<\/a>).<\/em><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Points to Ponder:<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<ol>\n<li>Jesus Christ declared himself to be the Messiah, which means &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lds.org\/scriptures\/bd\/messiah?lang=eng&amp;letter=m\" target=\"_blank\">the anointed<\/a>&#8221; one, whom the Jews were eagerly expecting to one day come as their king and deliverer. Why did some people living in His time have a hard time accepting Jesus Christ as the Messiah?<\/li>\n<li>Why do some people living today, including ourselves, have a hard time accepting Jesus Christ as the Messiah and Savior of the world?<\/li>\n<li>Jesus knew that He had a mission to preach the gospel and liberate every person from the captivity of sin and death. What is your mission or purpose in life?<\/li>\n<li>Jesus&#8217;s message to the world was a message of change, hope, love, peace, and joy.
