In Charles Dickens\u2019 A Christmas Carol, Ebenezer Scrooge vowed \u201cI will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.\u201d I am going to keep Christmas all the year by remembering my Savior and studying His life each week. And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee\u2019s house, and sat down to meat.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

And, behold, a\u00a0woman\u00a0in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that\u00a0Jesus\u00a0sat at meat in the Pharisee\u2019s house, brought an alabaster\u00a0box\u00a0of ointment, And stood at his feet behind\u00a0him\u00a0weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe\u00a0them\u00a0with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and\u00a0anointed\u00a0them\u00a0with the ointment.<\/em><\/p>\n

Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw\u00a0it,\u00a0he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman\u00a0this is\u00a0that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.<\/em><\/p>\n

And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.<\/em><\/p>\n

There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred\u00a0pence, and the other fifty. And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly\u00a0forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?<\/em><\/p>\n

Simon answered and said, I suppose that\u00a0he,\u00a0to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged. <\/em><\/p>\n

And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them\u00a0with the hairs of her head. Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet. My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment. <\/em><\/p>\n

Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven,\u00a0the same\u00a0loveth little.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

And he said unto her, Thy sins are\u00a0forgiven.\u00a0And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that\u00a0forgiveth\u00a0sins also?\u00a0And he said to the woman, Thy\u00a0faith\u00a0hath saved thee; go in peace. (Luke 7:36-50<\/a>.)<\/em><\/p>\n
