Yesterday I came across this beautiful psalm that I don’t remember ever having read. In its simplicity it spoke so many words of wisdom to me and reminded me of the truths I learned in 2 Nephi 4 and 2 Nephi 12. It is Psalm 43:
Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation: O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.
For thou art the God of my strength: why dost thou cast me off? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.
Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God.
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
As we receive light and truth from the holy scriptures and living prophets we will be led to worship God in prayer, in music, in churches, and in temples. When we are led by light and truth we draw nearer to Heavenly Father and our elder brother, Jesus Christ, and receive greater hope, health, and happiness.
The following videos explain light and truth and how we can be led by them “unto God my exceeding joy.” After my recent procrastination confession, I had to laugh at the first example in Part 2 about things we do that diminish our light and truth. Just another reminder that I am led by light and truth when I choose to do the small, simple, righteous actions I know are true. When I act according to the light and truth I have received I am blessed with additional light and truth and I am filled with joy and peace.
